The Hotspot heating source is mounted under the cabinet, you can control the heat by a control panel that is placed in a convent location, such as a tilt out of the front cabinet drawer.
The automatic pan sensor ensures that the heat will not be activated unless you are ready to cook, the trivet will indicate when you are connected with a LED Light. Once you are finished cooking you will notice that the countertop is warm but not hot, this helps prevent injuries.
Hotspot uses an induction heating system that uses a standard 120v outlet, thus it is ready to use in most homes in the United States.
